DAD REMEMBERS KANDA EVERY SPRING
God's flower garden was her own
Nature's beauty she had grown
But her earthly journey was not long
In April Green as the songbird sang a song
Poem written by Kanda's Mom
Where do I, Kanda's Mom, begin to explain
"DAD
REMEMBERS HIS DAUGHTER EVERY SPRING."
It was probably back in the middle to
late 90's when Kanda brought a large
type round tub to her dad, asking him
to drill holes in the bottom.
Understanding why she would buy a
brand new large metal tub
and want holes
drilled in the bottom, he could not,
but even now as I think back,
I remember as we were driving into town
some years back, she noticed such a tub
filled with beautiful blooming flowers
leaned against a home along
the high way and when Kanda noticed
flowers in anything unusual, she too,
had to have something similar.
Because at that particular time,
she lived a few miles south of town,
she would pass this home in her travels
everyday. But her dad did not drill
holes in the tub, he shot holes in the bottom.
Dad remembers his daughter's
exact words, "THAT WILL WORK, DAD."
From then on in the spring,
she planted a variety of beautiful
colored flowers in the
tub, one of her first projects for spring.
After we lost Kanda in the spring of 04,
Dad brought the tub to our yard
and each year he takes such pride in
picking a particular variety of
colorful flowers, just as Kanda did
in the early Spring. As he sets each flower,
he thinks about her tiny hands.
( as she had exceptionally small hands,)
working in the potting soil, arranging the
gorgeous flowers so that the tub would
just bloom beautiful color from
it's rim to the center.
In the Spring of 04, Kanda
had already designed
her tub of flowers with her expertise, and
now Dad does the same, not just for
us, who miss her so much, but
for HER, "OUR KANDA ANGEL."
