OF KANDA JACOBS
ON HER 34TH BIRTHDAY
May 24th, 1973 - April 13, 2004
""OUR KANDA ANGEL""
""HER SMILE""
Her smile is in the summer,
Her grace is in the breeze.
She did not leave, she is not gone,
It's only we, that grieve.
It doesn't take a special day
To bring you to our mind.
A day without a thought of you
Is very hard to find.
No longer in our lives to share,
But in our hearts, you're always there
The parting and the heartaches,
No one can ever heal.
But our memories are for safe keeping,
No one can ever steal

OUR KANDA'S 33RD BIRTHDAY

Oh, my beautiful Kanda Angel, you would have 33 years old today, Wednesday
May 24, 2006. I remember so very well 33 years ago as I was in labor all day
and into the night. I had only gained 18 pounds and your due date was June 15th,
but you decided to be delivered into this world three weeks early. Having you in
St Joseph Hospital in Joliet, Illinois, I even watched your birth and my memory
of your head crowning and you being born will always be with me. What a miracle
you were, this tiny little 6 pound, one ounce dark haired baby girl. At only 18 inches
long, you had exceptionally small feet and hands which always stayed very small even
into adulthood. I remembered your maternal grandma having small hands.
This third birthday since we lost you, how could we have come as far as we have not
having you in our lives here on earth, I have thought about so many times. But what
could your dad and I do IN MEMORY OF OUR ANGEL? There will never be any
surprise deliverings to NAL of balloons, flowers, or candles and there will never
be another BIRTHDAY DINNER in your honor, so what would be very special for you.
As we were browsing around Cracker Barrel, I caught a glimpse of this gorgeous
FAIRY sitting on a wired base, relaxed as she was playing a FLUTE, yes a FLUTE.
I was so in awe of her that I knew that instant that she would be displayed IN
MEMORY OF OUR KANDA. As your dad and I worked anchoring her to the front
of your grave, I noticed her FLUTE was missing and we crawled around hunting
and running our hands on the green grass, looking ridiculous as many cars drove by.
Thinking about our appearance, on our knees, we got tickled and even begin to
think you had played a joke on us to the point that we thought we could hear a faint
laugh and your giggles. Finally I found the FLUTE in the car and we SUPER GLUED
this tiny FLUTE in the Fairy's small hands, so it would not slip away again. We had
intended to wrap ivy around the base of the Fairy as you loved ivy so well, but were
unable to find any in Flora so we will finish when we are out of town and locate just
what we have in mind for the final touches.
